Grade Books and Report Cards

When working with standards based grading and reporting, we have to consider what goes into a gradebook and how it's reflected on a report card. In this video Marie helps teachers overcome the overwhelm of reconciling student work tracking with periodic reports by identifying prioritized standards.

Scoring Versus Grading

What's the difference between scoring and grading? When working through a product, we want to make sure that we are able to score each item and give feedback to the learner. A score describes the degree to which an answer is correct or incorrect.

A teacher should use data from scoring to inform the grading per standard - being certain to address performance against the standard only, and leaving room to prescribe improvements that may fall outside of the standard.
